Olympia, Washington
The Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial is a tribute to officers that have given their lives in the ‘line of duty.’ Each name is engraved on a central granite ‘wall’ held by two massive plinths signifying strength and embracing the officers remembered here. Stairs and ramps descend to the memorial wall in a formal gesture of respect. The great perimeter arc at the edge of the precipice overlooks Capitol Lake and serves to unite the Temple of Justice on the Capitol grounds with the surrounding community. This public plaza commemorates the lives of individuals dedicated to public service and provides a solemn reminder of the price too often paid.
